The 60 bed extension builds upon the original PPP project signed in 2006 which created two new state-of-the-art hospitals, the New Victoria Hospital in south Glasgow and the New Stobhill Hospital in north Glasgow. The project forms the second phase of NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde’s ambitious building programme resulting from its review of the provision of acute services. Each hospital will treat around 400,000 patients annually. 2. Both facilities opened on time and on budget in 2009. They provide a wide range of specialist services including general day surgery, ENT surgery, gynaecology, urology, renal dialysis, plastic surgery, outpatient clinics, diagnostic services and therapy care. The 60 bed extension will comprise 12 short-stay surgical beds and 48 acute rehabilitation beds. It is expected to admit patients in 2011.3. The project company initiated design development of the extension soon after building work started on the existing facilites. The existing facilities opened to general aclaim from both patients and staff.
