The van Tulleken Company advises LexisNexis on divestiture of Academic Textbook List to Oxford University Press
Date: August 2004

London, August 9, 2004: Oxford University Press (OUP), one of the world's leading academic and educational publishers, has acquired the academic law list from LexisNexis, the UK's largest legal publisher. The van Tulleken Company represented LexisNexis.

The list, which includes such well-known titles as Smith & Hogan's Criminal Law and Hepple, Howarth & Matthews, Tort-Cases & Materials, will complement OUP's existing law portfolio. All existing stock will be transferred to OUP immediately. LexisNexis is closing its textbook list in order to focus all its activities in the student market on building user preference for its legal online databases.

Henry Reece, Chief Executive of Oxford University Press, said, 'We are very pleased to be able to add these well-respected titles to our own law list. We are committed to offering our customers in all sectors the widest possible choice of high-quality publications. This acquisition will help us continue to develop our range of law publishing, particularly for the undergraduate market.'

Helen Mumford, Chief Executive of LexisNexis in the UK, said, 'We are extremely pleased that our student list has been bought by such a well-established publisher. We will remain committed to making LexisNexis Butterworths the number one online service preferred by law students in the UK and equipping them for a career in the law.'
