His career has been in business media. He began his career at Intertec Publishing Corporation (now a part of Penton Media) where he was involved in the early stages of that company’s expansion. In 1990 he was recruited by a private equity firm to be the CEO of Bill Communications where he led the management team’s effort to revitalize, restructure, grow and diversify the over 100-year old company. That effort included a number of acquisitions that resulted in the successful sale of the company to VNU (now Nielsen). After that transaction, he remained as a senior VNU executive, leading an acquisition campaign that tripled the size of his operating unit. In 1999 he was promoted to President/CEO of VNU’s business media holdings in the U.S., comprising Bill Communications, BPI communications, VNU Expositions, and VNU eMedia, collectively totaling nearly $700 million in annual revenues. After resigning from his position at VNU to pursue private investments, John has been involved with media advisory for the past two years.
John received a Bachelors of Arts Degree from the University of Kansas.
